Tammy is a Teeswater and Kerry Hill Cross. Her fleece is dense and creamy, with long, delicate curls.

 

It is very difficult to estimate the count, but I should think this fleece will be soft and easy to work with in both felt making and spinning. The staple length varies widely across the fleece, from a near teeswater curl at 15-18cm to a shorter crimped staple at 10cm (4 inches).

 

I would card both the curl and the shorter crimp together to spinning, so that you capture the 'fluff' of the hill breed against the lustre of the Teeswater. If you are felt making then you may wish to keep the textures apart for a wonderful surface design.

 

The beauty of a Teeswater Kerry hill fleece is that it seems to retain the dense creamy softness of the hill breed, and yet with the good lustre and curl throw-back of the Teeswater. I recommend giving it a try!
