This is a Turkish Drop Spindle (Level 2), with full instructions.

 

A drop spindle is a cheap and traditional method for spinning yarn from fibre. The spindle has a wooden shaft and a Turkish whorl. A Turkish whorl is a two piece base which allows you to wind a ball of yarn whilst you spin. This spindle is extremely well balanced and is designed to give maximum momentum. It is made from solid silver birch hardwood and is a great gift for someone who has already tried spindle spinning, as it requires extra concentration when winding. Therefore I have classed this as a level 2 product ideal for beginner+ - intermediate users.

 

Approx. 38cm long with a 15.5cm diameter whorl, Weight - 50g (this is not the final weight for shipping)
