Massam (sometimes called Masham) is a mid grey semi-lustre colour and is a long fibre wool. It is a cross breed from Teeswater or Wensleydale rams with Swalebreed ewes, as I am told and has been traditionally used in outer clothing, homewares and rugs. It is also quite a heavy fibre, so it almost feels like an Alpaca fibre.
I have used this for wet and dry felting and personally found it better for dry felt. I'm also told it is& also great for spinning and will defiantely make a nice highlight texture, as it also takes dye very well.
