 Lleyn Batts!

Lleyn (pronounced Klin) is a Welsh breed of sheep, known as a good dairy and meat breed. In recent years the breed has become popular amongst English and Irish farmers too, as they are particularly easy to manage and breed. The fleece has a medium length and is quite dense on the skin, so acts as a great water repellent.

The natural fleece does contain guard hairs and behaves not unalike Welsh Mountain Wool, however these have been carded out of the fleece for these batts. Lleyns fibre is perfect for spinning, weaving and knitting into woven tweeds, rugs and hardwearing, warming knitwear. It should also be good for felt making.

Count: 28-37 micron/Bradford 46-56, Staple: approx. 4-6cm.
